Book of the Week

Perfect Practice: Rules for developing talent with disciplined, deliberate, intelligent practice.

The mindset of practice is impactful on the process of training and coaching. Many of my customers are athletes and coaches. They take the roll both athlete working in personal performance and the parallel roll as a coach encouraging other to high performance. The concept of the mindset of mindful practice from Thomas M. Sterner’s book The Practicing Mind is expanded with the 42 rules of getting better at getting better in Perfect Practice. Both Books are great fuel for anyone wanting to engage in the process of getting better.

This idea of deliberate practice is primary tenant of HyperFit Training. There are generally three areas of training: Practice, Training and Gaming. All there are just different applications of mindful practice. Practice is the planned acquisition and reinforcement of movements. Training is expanding work capacity - consider it practice at speed with the intent to reach failure. Gaming is the process of understanding the threshold that maximizes performance in a given workout. The concept of constant practice resonates at all levels of HyperFit USA Training.
